Phil Robinson, a volleyball high school and college referee 1990-2010 and treasurer for the Spokane Area Volleyball Referees Association for the past 20 years, was inducted into the SAVRA Hall of Fame at the association’s season-ending banquet.
Retired volleyball referee Roger Jamison became the eighth inductee into the Spokane Area Volleyball Referees Association Hall of Fame at its recent awards banquet. From 1989-2008 Jamison excelled at the high school, college and club levels. He officiated many state high school and regional college championship tournaments, as well as numerous national USA volleyball championships. He served several positions on SAVRA’s board of directors, and was a valued mentor to upcoming officials.
Longtime volleyball referee, Rusty Wellman, became the seventh member of the Spokane Area Volleyball Referees Association’s Hall of Fame, inducted at the organization’s annual banquet Nov. 19. He has officiated volleyball for 34 years, all but five of those out of the Spokane board. He officiated in one NCAA Tournament, several NWAC championships and WIAA state tournaments. He is a longtime advanced trainer of officials in Spokane.

Three legendary volleyball figures in the Spokane community and beyond were inducted in the Spokane Area Volleyball Referees Association Hall of Fame Nov. 14 at the association’s annual awards banquet.
Alan Hirayama, a 33-year veteran volleyball referee, became the 11th inductee into the SAVRA Hall of Fame at the association’s annual awards banquet in November 2024. Hirayama has served as president, trainer, assistant assigner and assigner during his ongoing career, working high school and Division I college matches for the Pac-12, West Coast and Big Sky conferences.
