Longtime Spokane volleyball referees and contributors Barb Silvey and Dale Goodwin were inducted into the Spokane Area Volleyball Referees Association Hall of Fame Nov. 13 at the association’s annual awards banquet.
Seven Officials Honored as 2017’s Best
SAVRA handed out its annual awards honoring volleyball officials’ work this year. Dale Goodwin was named Official of the Year, Ben Goodwin Partner of the Year, Brent Radford Rookie of the Year, Alex Douglas both Most Improved and top second-year official with Jason Gonwick, Veronica Douglas top third-year official, and William Hyatt high school Line Judge of the Year.
Five Officials Represent Spokane Board Well at State
Five local officials officiated in state high school tournaments Nov. 9-11: Rusty Wellman, R1 in the 4A championship match; Keith Ward, R1 in a 2A semifinal; Mike Pounds, R1 in the 1A championship match; Dale Goodwin, R1 in the 1B championship match; and Ben Goodwin, R1 in a semifinal and the 3rd/6th-place match in the 1B tournament.
