Key Takeaways from SFCC Summer Training Camp, for All Officials
From the observations of our mentors at this camp, all referees should aspire to achieve these competencies this season:
· Recognizing and understanding rotations, a 5-1 from a 6-2 or a 4-2, and tracking setters
· Recognizing backrow attack and backrow block situations
· Maintaining excellent partner communications, from before the match, through the match and in debrief afterward.
Your trainers recommend you watch good officials work whenever you have an opportunity. Remember, Gonzaga University offers free admission to all home VB matches in Martin Centre to SAVRA members. Or watch any GSL high school match. Get a sense of what officials are calling and what they are not calling as a guide to your progression.

SAVE THE DATE: Crossover Tourney Sept. 27-28
This year’s Linda Sheridan High School Crossover Tournament is Sept. 27 and 28. Please make every effort to leave Saturday, Sept. 28 available for our assigners to assign you to these matches. Each year well over 50 teams converge on Spokane for this once-a-year tournament, with matches at Ferris, Lewis & Clark, Shadle Park and Rogers.
Patty Kells Appointed to WOA VB Committee
